Just a a few quick faves from my first time through the images from this shoot. I know there are lots of people dying to see these…these little boys are pretty dang special and have quite the fan club! The opportunity to photograph these two was beyond exciting…goose-bump exciting. They did their best to continue my streak of shoots where sleeping newborns that can be posed any which way are a myth, but they were so dang cute I didn’t much care.

I am always excited for every photo shoot, but this one was extra special. I’ve known Christina and Rob more or less forever, and I like many people watched as they struggled to start their family. They don’t know this, but I thought of them incredibly often, especially during our own issues with trying to have a second baby. Their story gave me perspective, and their honesty and grace was inspiring. They are an adorable couple that sacrificed a lot and  in the end this sometimes unfair world managed to turn itself right.

Thank you so much for having me into your home, and for letting me photograph your beautiful boys! Many more photos coming soon.

I think this little one may give the phrase “center of the universe” new meaning. I loved meeting her and seeing just how adored she is. It is so amazing to watch how one tiny little being can fill up a room and light up the faces of four (ok 5) adults with every little gurgle and smirk. Thank you so much Kristina, for inviting me into your home…I hope that you enjoy. (click on the green arrow)

A while back I got to photograph a cutie patootie family but their cutie patootie youngest brother was sleeping through most of the shoot. So finally….we were able to get together and get some photos of this little dude….and he so is a little dude. Seriously. He has a way about him that is so laid back and chill. I just want to eat him up.McCauley-Sneak5

See? I told you he was a cutie patootie…if you haven’t seen them, do click on these cuties too. One of these days I’m going to get their cute dad in on the action too!!

Get your tissue…

September 4, 2009

This is the first time I put together a slideshow for a client. I shared it with Mom the other day (with different music) and she LOVED it. The next step was to figure out how to do it for the web which was decidedly more difficult than expected…but I’ve got it now, so don’t expect this to be the last slideshow you see around these parts. Mom requested this song and I love it, even if I’ve watched this 1000 times and still get a little misty.

I think it is not only because this baby is so beautiful (and she is) but because I’ve seen how completely knocked off of her feet in love this mom is with this girl. We just met, but I SO get where she is…I’ve been there. It is such a magical mix of overwhelmed and starstruck and grateful and sleep deprivation and joy and holy cow every minute. (Looking at the list I’m still most of these things now, but I do get to sleep). As I watched this I felt completely privileged to be welcomed into their home and trusted to capture this beautiful girl…just as she is right now.

sigh….so here is the beautiful Ava, set to music. (and I warned you you might need tissues)

I recently spent some time with a beautiful baby girl and her mama…and in a minute, I’m going to share a sneak peek, but I had one thing happen on this shoot that has never happened to me before, and I had to share because I thought it was so funny. We were doing a few shots outside and the house is on the main street of our town. There are often many tourists cruising around the area and as we shot people kept stopping and oohing and aaahing over how cute the baby was etc. and a few of them actually pulled out their own cameras. This guy though was just too much…I honestly have like 5 photos of him because every time I thought he was going to get out of my way he decided to take another cell phone shot. It was seriously the funniest thing….I’m like “hello-I’m working here!!!” but he didn’t seem to notice me much at all…he was too focused on the darling baby. She didn’t seem to mind the additional paparazzi and eventually he continued on his way so we could get back to business!

Anyway…onto much cuter things….

W-09-Aug-Moody-937-EI had so much fun with this little one… she is 4.5 months old and was so smiley and interested in everything that was going on. It is actually a great age because she was totally engaged but not quite mobile (even if she did seem to know some Pilates moves!!)  I love going to people’s homes and this home was so cute and had so many touches that I just loved thatI was totally inspired from the moment I walked into the door! Plus, I was totally inspired by her beautiful eyes and baby toes.

Many thanks to Stacey and her sweet girl for hanging out with me!

Earlier this week I had the pleasure of photographing a 6week old cutie named Paisley. Isn’t that just the cutest name? And speaking of cute…09-Jul-Harris14-bw-proof09-Jul-Harris19-proof09-Jul-Harris102-proof

Isn’t she something? She was of course, awake the whole time (because babies don’t sleep when I have my camera out) but she was such a happy girl and lots of fun to photograph.

09-Jul-Harris70-proof09-Jul-Harris286-proofHarrisBlog4We also did a few shots with her handsome big brother!

09-Jul-Harris380-proof09-Jul-Harris125-bw-proofHarrisBlog1HarrisBlog5HarrisBlog2Thank you Lisa for inviting me into your home. I’ll have your full gallery to you as soon as I can.

I was so excited when I was asked to shoot a one year old and his family. This is another one of those scrapbook connections, and it was so great to meet this little guy (and his dad) and to see his mom again.

I promised a sneak peek on Sat night…and if I hit submit on this post in the next 20 minutes, I think I’ll still make it. So I won’t waste time with lots of chit chat. I know that Mom and Dad just want to get a look at some of the pics!

Beach1-webbeach3Bridge1I was giddy when I heard that they were bringing this car…it is fabulous and the driver is pretty darn cute too….

Car-WebI brought along my antique high chair and a cupcake to celebrate the big birthday…I thought we might get some smashing shots, but he was more of a mustache guy.

Daddy-Web a couple of more faves…blog3Thanks so much to Gina and Jason and Happy Birthday again to sweet Luca!

Meet the adorable Mr. Mateo that I had the privilege of photographing recently. In keeping with my newborn record, he didn’t sleep much…I’m seriously starting to think that sleepy pliable newborns are a myth. No matter, because this boy was handsome and for the most part happy during our whole time together.

I was seriously giddy (once I got over my nerves) when mom told me that she had a guitar that was incredibly important to her Flamenco fanatic husband and a mantilla veil that had been her great grandmother’s in Cuba. “Something special to represent each of us” she told me. Like I said, nervous…but giddy.

09-June-Hidalgo344-web09-June-Hidalgo352-web09-June-Hidalgo453-bw-webI realize he looks perfectly sleepy in these shots, and he was for a couple of minutes (ha) but most of the time he looked like this….little man doesn’t want to miss any action!

We of course had to take some shots on the old scale. He was so mellow up there, I couldn’t believe it.

09-June-Hidalgo397-web09-June-Hidalgo404-web

Ok…not totally mellow

09-June-Hidalgo453-70s-webI played around a bit with a new white blanket which was so much fun…

09-June-Hidalgo305-edit-webThank you Heidi, for sharing your boys…and thank you Jose for letting me put a naked baby on your other baby….

I’ve been wanting to photograph this boy for the longest time. We went to the Long Branch ranch and saloon which was so SO cool. The textures and colors and variety of things to shoot was incredible. It was a bit of a challenge to focus too much on all of that because my subject was a running, jumping, squirming wild man. Not only that, but with a face like this I couldn’t help but zoom in a lot of the time.Faces and I had to resort to one of my favorite types of photos…those from the rear view…there were so many doors and this curious cutie wanted in all of them.

09-Ap-Riggs607-Web09-Ap-Riggs652-Web09-Ap-Riggs672-WebOf course there were wonderful things like saddles and scales and stage coaches too…

09-Ap-Riggs709-web09-Ap-Riggs915-web09-Ap-Riggs891-weband then there was the new friendship that was formed…

Riggs-Horseand then again, there was this face…

We did a great job planning for a very sleepy boy…but we got a pretty wakie boy. Darling, but awake! It started out pretty promising…

09-Mar-CC 23-bw-W09-Mar-CC-23-W09-Mar-CC 8-BW-WI was so excited about these shots. My mom knitted the cute little bunting wrap…and I stole this basket right off of my coffee table on the way out of the door!! So glad I did!

09-Mar-CC 78=edit-Wand I stole this little white table right out of the corner of Karen’s kitchen!
