Family Photography-Holiday Fun

December 16, 2009

I just let out a big ole sigh. I know I talk a lot about how much I love what I do…and I do. Getting together with people and taking their pictures is the most fun I’ve ever had “working” or playing too for that matter. I love it. But after the shoot is quite a process…from the first look to the image selection to editing etc. it is a roller coaster. I go through the gamut of emotions and truth be told, my love for the images kind of waxes and wanes as I spend so much time with them. But then I get here, and I put the images to music and hit play and sit back and watch…and I’m overwhelmed…I don’t see “images” or exposure…I just see this family as I saw them the day we were together. I see their love for each other and I hear their laughter and I get all goosebumpy and wet eyed and…and well, I let out a big ole sigh.

I was SO excited when I was asked to go to the tree farm with this adorable family. These are just a few shots from the shoot, but I can’t wait any longer to share a little sneak.

This is another one of those places that I’ve never been before. I think that maybe being the 4th generation of my family means I just stay in a 3 block radius because I keep finding cool places around here thanks to photo shoots and I’m so embarrassed that I’ve never been there before.

This was such a fun shoot…and while I almost lost my head with excitement over the swings and marshmallow roasting….it was these four that made it so fun.. I’ve “known” this couple forever (there goes that local thing again) but this was the first time I got to hang out with them as a family. They were so dang cute. Seriously. I loved following them around as they searched for the perfect tree, it was hard to tell who was most excited about it (I kind of think it was Dad).  Watching the four of them play and skip and swing together was so great, and it was so cool to be photographing the traditions that I know these kids will remember forever.

When this mom and I were chatting about our upcoming shoot, she said that she was trying to decide between golf and the beach. I said “how about golf AT the beach?” She loved the idea.  So off we went…this beautiful mom and I and her two handsome blue-eyed boys.Sneak2

and their golf clubs…

And I took one of my favorite photos ever on this day….one of those ones that as you click through catches you right there. I saw it when it happened…maybe because I have a first grade boy of my own, but I knew as soon as this boy threw his arms around his mom’s neck that she would melt….and melt she did. Sigh. I love this photo.

Many thanks to these guys for hanging out with me. I’ll post more (with music) soon!!

I’m so happy to finally be sharing these photos. With a little one down sick last week I didn’t get to these as soon as I would have liked. Thankfully, we are all back in the saddle.

I’m sure no one has forgotten the stunning Olivia…and now you can see that the rest of the family is beautiful as well. As I said before, I’ve known this family forever…but as I was editing the photos all I could think about was high school. My freshman year, these two were one of the senior super couples, and to be able to photograph them now with their 4 beautiful girls was beyond cool. We had a beautiful day, and the fabulous backdrop of their family ranch! Sigh…I love what I do!!

One of the coolest things about being a photographer is learning about new locations that are right under my nose. I mean, I’ve only lived here for my entire life…how come I never played here??
09-Oct-sneak12Thankfully this fun family has done some exploring and now so have I. I saw troll bridges and fairy hats and a family full of energy and love. It was really wonderful hanging out with them. We have a few more tricks up our sleeves soon, but here are some shots from our journey to the fairy forest!

Sigh…I knew I loved these photos, but when I see them set to music I get giddy all over again.

We have been planning this shoot for a long time and I was SO excited to get to shoot in the dahlia fields. So the day finally came and it was soupy wet fog. But, I was heading out of town the next day and they were going to cut the flowers before I could get back. So we decided to brave it and see what we could get. I’m actually so happy about how it all turned out. The day and the photos have kind of a dreamy feel from all of that fog…and I was just so excited to finally shoot these guys. I’ve known Judy for….well…hmm…forever I guess…and watching her and her adorable family was so much fun.

I’ve know that she and Jim are chomping at the bit to see some photos, so even though I have more to share, I’m going to post a little taste.

I may be back with more sneaks…and I will definitely be getting the whole gallery to Jim and Judy soon…but at least now I can show my face at school pick up tomorrow knowing that I kept my promise!!

Thanks you guys, for waiting while I was off in Disneyland…I hope you love these as much as I do.

For everyone else….don’t forget to check out the holiday promotion page and get those sessions booked soon!!

Sunset at the beach…

August 15, 2009

The other night we decided to take a last minute unplanned photo jaunt to the beach. I’m so glad that we did. I love watching Todd and Alex play, and watching them play while I have a camera in my hand is one of my very favorite things to do. The night was so gorgeous. I swear it was one of those nights where I realize how ridiculously lucky we are to be able to decide to go to the beach and to be taking these photos all in a matter of minutes.
