Half Moon Bay Family Photography-golfing at the beach
October 29, 2009When this mom and I were chatting about our upcoming shoot, she said that she was trying to decide between golf and the beach. I said “how about golf AT the beach?” She loved the idea. So off we went…this beautiful mom and I and her two handsome blue-eyed boys.
and their golf clubs…

We had a great time!

And I took one of my favorite photos ever on this day….one of those ones that as you click through catches you right there. I saw it when it happened…maybe because I have a first grade boy of my own, but I knew as soon as this boy threw his arms around his mom’s neck that she would melt….and melt she did. Sigh. I love this photo.

Many thanks to these guys for hanging out with me. I’ll post more (with music) soon!!
Cute boy at the beach: Half Moon Bay Children’s Photography
October 12, 2009A while back I got to photograph a cutie patootie family but their cutie patootie youngest brother was sleeping through most of the shoot. So finally….we were able to get together and get some photos of this little dude….and he so is a little dude. Seriously. He has a way about him that is so laid back and chill. I just want to eat him up.

See? I told you he was a cutie patootie…if you haven’t seen them, do click on these cuties too. One of these days I’m going to get their cute dad in on the action too!!
Sunset at the beach…
August 15, 2009The other night we decided to take a last minute unplanned photo jaunt to the beach. I’m so glad that we did. I love watching Todd and Alex play, and watching them play while I have a camera in my hand is one of my very favorite things to do. The night was so gorgeous. I swear it was one of those nights where I realize how ridiculously lucky we are to be able to decide to go to the beach and to be taking these photos all in a matter of minutes.

Family Photography: Half Moon Bay Beach
August 11, 2009This was a first for me…a visitor from out of state contacted me to take their family photos while they were vacationing here. Even though we had spoken on the phone, I was a little nervous because normally my shoots are for friends of friends, or friends of clients and there is already a connection when we meet. This time really was like a blind date of the blindest variety.
I really had no need to worry. I chatted with Michelle for less than a minute in person and immediately knew we were going to have a good time. When I met her husband (wearing bright striped pants) it was confirmed…we were going to have fun! Their son made me a little nervous at first. He is adorable, but twelve years old and super shy. He didn’t want to chat with me too much, but lucky for me (and him) I was really more interested in his interaction with his parents…which was really special. Watching these 3 was so much fun!

Poor Mom has her work cut our for her with these two!!.
Because our first location (their hotel) had tons of restrictions for shooting there, we took off for greener pastures (I mean non regulated beaches) and ran around. It didn’t take too long for them to kind of forget I was there (I love when that happens) and with each other their smiles came so easy. There was lots of giggling and wrestling and even some jumping

And kissing…
and frolicking….(these are some of my favorite shots from the day!)

I had a wonderful time working with these guys and couldn’t have been more excited that they got such amazing weather while they were here. It sounds like they had a fabulous trip and I hope that their photos will help them hold on to their memories of California!

I’m reserving the right to post a few more from this shoot in the coming days….and Michelle, I’ll get you the whole gallery soon!

August 3, 2009
My nephew and sister in law…the spring in his step gives me goosebumps.

It was tougher than I thought to get back to editing these fun photos.
So where was I?
Oh yes…hanging out
During the earlier photos that I shared, there were multiple promises made to the boys about the cannonballs into the pool that they would get to do when we were done. They promised that they were awesome cannonballers and they were not kidding!

There was also some good boogie board jumping…
Mom attempted a cannonball, but missed the step about bending her legs…she got a lot of grief for that one…I have it documented, but I’ll spare her for now. But I loved it when she got a little help from her boys.
and remember that I mentioned Dad was a little mischievous? Well, he gave Mom a little help getting into the pool too…she clearly knows her man, because even though she protested with the “you better not” speech…
she pretty quickly managed the nose grab move…

Dad also gave each boy a little dunk…

It was so much fun just to hang out by the pool with these guys!

Thanks again SO much to Oliver, Lele, Miles and Cole…they totally rocked this!

This shoot was so much fun. I’ve know this family since, well, since forever and I was so happy that we were finally able to connect and get some photos taken. I swear, these guys belong in a magazine…I knew that before, but as I went through the photos I was even more convinced!

We had a great location to shoot in, where the weather was fabulous and the surroundings were beyond gorgeous. But the real beauty is in this family. With two tween boys, there is lots of energy…but Mom and Dad are pretty energetic themselves. The way that the four of them play and laugh together is so relaxed and easy…that and the fact that they are awesome people made for a relaxed and easy shoot!
The property where we were had a great big open space, so we dragged a little bench outside and had some fun.

Some of us have different definitions of “fun”!!!

I had a great time shooting just Mom and Dad for a change too…and we got some great shots with their special girl doggie Emma.

If anyone ever wonders where the boys get their mischief, they only have to get a peek at the looks these two share with each other. I love these shots!! (There will be more evidence in part 2 from this shoot
The boys weren’t so busy that I wasn’t able to catch a few shots of their handsome faces.

and they did a great job of making me a Mom sandwich!

We had a great time just hanging out…
and then we let the boys let loose in the pool!! Those shots and more tomorrow…
Luca Turns One: Half Moon Bay Beach Family Photography
June 20, 2009I was so excited when I was asked to shoot a one year old and his family. This is another one of those scrapbook connections, and it was so great to meet this little guy (and his dad) and to see his mom again.
I promised a sneak peek on Sat night…and if I hit submit on this post in the next 20 minutes, I think I’ll still make it. So I won’t waste time with lots of chit chat. I know that Mom and Dad just want to get a look at some of the pics!

I was giddy when I heard that they were bringing this car…it is fabulous and the driver is pretty darn cute too….
I brought along my antique high chair and a cupcake to celebrate the big birthday…I thought we might get some smashing shots, but he was more of a mustache guy.

He was just so much fun to chase around…

Mom and Dad were lots of fun too…

and so obviously in love with each other and their adorable boy!

and I love this series…Luca kept dive bombing Daddy with kisses…so dang cute!
a couple of more faves…
Thanks so much to Gina and Jason and Happy Birthday again to sweet Luca!
I’ve been wanting to photograph this boy for the longest time. We went to the Long Branch ranch and saloon which was so SO cool. The textures and colors and variety of things to shoot was incredible. It was a bit of a challenge to focus too much on all of that because my subject was a running, jumping, squirming wild man. Not only that, but with a face like this I couldn’t help but zoom in a lot of the time.
and I had to resort to one of my favorite types of photos…those from the rear view…there were so many doors and this curious cutie wanted in all of them.

Of course there were wonderful things like saddles and scales and stage coaches too…

and then there was the new friendship that was formed…
and then again, there was this face…
