If I were to tell you that this was an easy photo shoot, I’d be a big liar. 2 year olds and 6 month olds have minds of their own…and on occasion they are not on the same page as each other or as their Mommy or their photographer. Individually shooting them actually was quite easy, I mean look at them…they are gorgeous and wonderful. But together? They wanted no part of cooperating at the same time…and after 2 tries where Mom and I both broke a sweat and stood on our heads and literally danced like crazy people to Justin Beiber, I realized that it was ok. I am always harping that my photography is real and not posed and I do all that I can to create images that are true to the core reflections of the people I shoot. And these little people, were independent, opinionated, beautiful, and completely typical of their ages….a perfectly posed portrait would not have been true to me, or to them, and as I went through the shoot to edit I realized that even more. I love these images…and I hope that Mom and Dad do too. So here they are, blue eyed beauties…that mom and I joked were “cry babies”. I appreciate them putting up with my dance moves and bribe attempts, and I hope that I get the chance to photograph them as they grow and change and go through new phases.

Below they are set to music that mom selected….and as I watch the slide show I totally forget Justin Beiber and see only the moments with 2 little ones that will pass way too fast.

I loved this photo shoot. I loved giggling with this mom…I loved seeing little Ms. K who was two years old and kissing Todd at his 2nd birthday party last time I saw her. I loved pretty much everything about it…until the end when we found out that someone took the kids jackets that we had left on a bench while we shot. Grrrrr. Otherwise, it was perfect day…and I couldn’t be happier with these photos.

It is so amazing to watch how one tiny little being can fill up a room and light up the faces of four (ok 5) adults with every little gurgle and smirk. Thank you so much Kristina, for inviting me into your home…I hope that you enjoy. (click on the green arrow)

I just let out a big ole sigh. I know I talk a lot about how much I love what I do…and I do. Getting together with people and taking their pictures is the most fun I’ve ever had “working” or playing too for that matter. I love it. But after the shoot is quite a process…from the first look to the image selection to editing etc. it is a roller coaster. I go through the gamut of emotions and truth be told, my love for the images kind of waxes and wanes as I spend so much time with them. But then I get here, and I put the images to music and hit play and sit back and watch…and I’m overwhelmed…I don’t see “images” or exposure…I just see this family as I saw them the day we were together. I see their love for each other and I hear their laughter and I get all goosebumpy and wet eyed and…and well, I let out a big ole sigh.

I’m so happy to finally be sharing these photos. With a little one down sick last week I didn’t get to these as soon as I would have liked. Thankfully, we are all back in the saddle.

I’m sure no one has forgotten the stunning Olivia…and now you can see that the rest of the family is beautiful as well. As I said before, I’ve known this family forever…but as I was editing the photos all I could think about was high school. My freshman year, these two were one of the senior super couples, and to be able to photograph them now with their 4 beautiful girls was beyond cool. We had a beautiful day, and the fabulous backdrop of their family ranch! Sigh…I love what I do!!

You may remember Miss Olivia from our mini spring shoot. I recently had the opportunity work with her again for her actual Senior Photos. This girl is so dang adorable, inside and out. Her family owns one of the famous pumpkin patches here in town, so we of course had to take advantage of that location…and then we headed to the beach for sunset. The night we shot was beyond fabulous…the kind of light photographers want to put in a bottle and carry around with us! I also want to bottle the smile on this girl…so genuine and beautiful. Congratulations Olivia…I’m so happy to have gotten to know you this year. You rock!
Any other seniors out there…there is still plenty of time to get FUN senior photos this year. Olivia and I had a great time shooting these and I promise you will have fun shooting yours too. All sessions are completely customized for you and your interests…we can include sports equipment, hobbies, you name it, I’m game. Are you???
